Student Paper Competition

For many years, USNC-URSI has sponsored the Ernest K. Smith Student Paper Competition (SPC) at the NRSM or NARSM. Each entrant must submit a full (journal-length) paper along with their abstract or summary for the NRSM. The full papers are reviewed by the relevant Commission Chairs and the papers with the highest scores are selected for a final SPC session during the NRSM or NARSM. The top three (sometimes up to five) students are then selected by the Commission Chairs based on their presentations at the SPC session. In some years there are ties for a given place, as indicated by the same place number for more than one name.
